Huazong: Chinese entrepreneurs favour Malaysia for familiar community
Federation of Chinese Associations Malaysia (Huazong) President Tan Sri Goh Tian Chuan said Chinese entrepreneurs choose to venture to Malaysia because the Chinese community here is similar to those in China.
“In recent years, many Chinese entrepreneurs have ventured abroad to expand their businesses, with many choosing to visit Malaysia.
“This is because the Chinese community here is similar to those in China, with both having recognizable names and surnames.
“In many countries, especially in ASEAN, there are people of Chinese descent, but their Chinese names and surnames are not visible. Only in Malaysia do the Chinese still retain this cultural heritage,” he said, reported Oriental Daily.
The reason is Malaysia is home to over 1,300 Chinese primary schools, more than 60 independent high schools, and 3 private universities, he said.
Malaysia has the most complete Chinese language system in the world outside of China for preserving Chinese culture, he added.
Chinese schools are gaining popularity in recent times even non-Chinese parents are sending their children to Chinese schools.
NST reported that a parent, identified only as Aminah, claimed that vernacular schools provide a stronger academic focus than other schools and also offer the opportunity to learn Chinese.
