Question over Hamas leadership continues

Khaled Meshaal’s rise to lead Hamas has hit the wall due to Yahya Sinwar’s opposition.

Meshaal is Hamas’ former political bureau head.

Sinwar who is Hamas chief in the Gaza Strip wants the new Hamas leader to be one who has warm relations with Tehran, reported Saudi Arabia owned Alhadath news channel.

Meshaal has not forged warm relations with Iran.

The successor to the late Ismail Haniyeh would be an individual from Hamas political bureau.

Hamas’ Shura Council will have a say that determines who the next Hamas leader is.
