Independent senator undecided on return to MIC

Independent senator Datuk C Sivaraj would be meeting MIC president Tan Sri S A Vigneswaran over the open invite from the latter to former members who would want to rejoin the party.

“I haven’t decided. I would need to meet the party president first before making a decision,” Sivaraj told Harapan Daily.

Yesterday Vigneswaran told the media that MIC has decided to open its arms and welcome back its former members who wished to rejoin the party.

“One of the individuals we have reinstated is Awtar Singh from Puchong, who submitted his appeal. The CWC allowed him to attend the supreme council meeting, and his appeal was considered.

“This is the supreme council’s decision, and we (the president and deputy president) adhere to it,” said Vigneswaran at a press conference following the first CWC meeting for the 2024-2027 term at the MIC headquarters in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

Awtar Singh is a vocal MIC member who voices out issues via TikTok.

Vigneswaran also said the party AGM would be held on Sept 15 at the Ideal Convention in Shah Alam. Its wings will congregate on Sept 1.
