Don’t launch attack, US warns Iran

The US has warned Iran against launching a major attack on Israel and this warning was conveyed directly an via intermediaries, reported The Wall Street Journal (WSJ).

This was done in a bid to curtail escalation of the ongoing conflict.

“The United States has sent clear messaging to Iran that the risk of a major escalation if they do a significant retaliatory attack against Israel is extremely high.

“There is a serious risk of consequences for Iran’s economy and the stability of its newly elected government if it goes down that path,” said a US official, reported WSJ.

The possibility of Iran launching an attack on Israel rose following the fatal blast that killed Hamas leader, Ismail Haniyeh.

There is a likelihood that Iran Hizbullah may launch an attack.

In a related development Jordan Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi informed Tehran that it will not allow Iran to use its air space if it responds to Haniyeh’s assassination, reported Sky News Arabia.

Saudi Arabia too has declared it will not allow Iranian missiles or drones to pass through its airspace en route to Israel, a senior member of the Saudi royal family told Kan News on Monday evening.

“Riyadh will not allow any foreign object to pass through,” said the official, reported MTV Lebanon.
