Ex-neighbour recalls Leang Win Son’s strange ways with children
A former neighbour of Leang Win Son, the suspect in the Albertine Leo kidnapping case, recalled that he had behaved strangely around her daughter.
“When he saw my daughter at that time, he actually picked her up and said he wanted to take her to the convenience store to buy something.
“He also said that he liked little girls,” said the former neighbour who wished to be anonymous, reported China Press.
She said that after forcing him to let go, she immediately drove her daughter back home, only to find that he had followed them to their residence.
She also mentioned that she and her husband had taken their daughter to a Johor temple for a deity procession earlier this year.
There, they noticed Leang was standing behind them, and watching them closely.
“When I saw him, I immediately paid close attention to my daughter’s movements.
“I suspected he was looking for an opportunity to target my daughter or other young girls,” she said.
Leang was charged under Section 363 of the Penal Code for abducting and illegally confining Leo. This offence carries a maximum penalty of seven years in prison and a fine upon conviction.
Leang has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Sessions Judge Rasidah Ruslee set bail at RM20,000 and ordered him to surrender his passport.
She ordered Leang to surrender his passport, report to the nearest police station monthly, and avoid contacting any prosecution witnesses until the case is resolved.
Leo went missing on the evening of July 20 during an event at Eco Galleria in Iskandar Puteri.
Police found her at a budget hotel in Batang Kali, Selangor, approximately 370 kilometres from where she was last seen.
They also arrested Leang, who was found in the same hotel room as Leo.
