Action has been taken against the association, says Fahmi

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said that action had been taken against the Kuala Kangsar Kwong Sai Association in Perak for displaying the Jalur Gemilang upside down.

“I was told in this case, the authorities have taken action,” he said, reported Bernama.

Fahmi said that displaying the Jalur Gemilang upside down violates the law and noted that the penalties imposed serve as a reminder to deter future incidents of a similar nature.

Fahmi also urged the public to ensure that the Jalur Gemilang is displayed in excellent condition—free from wear, tear, or damage—and to adhere to proper flag-flying protocols.

“At the launch of the National Month, I reminded everyone to display the Jalur Gemilang correctly as it is the nation’s pride and a symbol of the country’s sovereignty.

“Detailed information on how to display the flag, what is allowed or not allowed can be obtained from the Department of Information,” he said.

It was recently reported that the association displayed the Jalur Gemilang upside down.

The association has since apologised, explaining that it was an oversight. The association said similar incidents will not happen again.
