Control of Smoking Products for Public Health Act 2024 will be enforced in October

The Control of Smoking Products for Public Health Act 2024 would be enforced by October 2024, announced Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad.

All the regulations and orders under the act have been approved by the Attorney General’s Chambers.

“We are in the final phase. This October, God willing, we will implement four regulations and one order, as approved by the AGC,” Berita Harian quoted him as saying.

“We have already delayed (on the enforcement once), and hope to implement it in October. While we had hoped to start in September, if that isn’t feasible, October will be the target date.”

The act aims to ban the sale and purchase of tobacco products, smoking materials, tobacco substitutes and smoking related services to minors.
