PHEB lodges MACC report over red flags in forensic audit report
The Penang Hindu Endowment Board (PHEB) lodged a report to the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission over red flags that was spotted via forensic audit that was conducted by an auditing firm.
PHEB chairman RSN Rayer announced that the audit was done as they had received many complaints during two townhall sessions conducted on the island and on the mainland revolving on administration, management and finance of the only Hindu endowment board in Malaysia.
“I would like to announce that the audit has been completed. There are red flags for authorities to look into it.
“The findings will be given to MACC. If necessary, they will act on it. I cant reveal the audit as we don’t want to jeopardise the probe,” said Rayer at a press conference that was held with PHEB commissioners.
The audit was among things that were demanded by Penang Hindus.
Rayer however declined to reveal what were the red flags that was found in the forensic audit.
“We don’t want to compromise the investigations. Though we would like to reveal it, we were told not to disclose by the MACC. it is only proper to follow MACC.
“The red flags are things that were not done according to procedure.”
On that note he also said that there would be no witch hunt.
He also confirmed a police report would be made regarding this matter.
For the record, Rayer who is also Jelutong MP was became PHEB chairman on Sept 2023.
Prior to that PHEB was led by former deputy chief minister P Ramasamy who currently leads Urimai.
