Amend or withdraw the Facebook page post that insulted Hinduism

Malaysia Hindu Sangam (MHS) demanded a comic with an offensive post on the Facebook page of Zirwah al Idrus that insulted Hinduism in the pretext of educating Muslim children to be amended or withdrawn with immediate affect.

They demanded Zirwah-al Idrus to make immediate amendments or withdraw the offensive statement.

“As the organisation representing Hindus in Malaysia, we want Zirwah al-Idrus to make amends immediately or withdraw the offensive statement, ” said MHS central council in a statement.

“We will use the proper channel to handle this issue including referring to Minister in Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), National Unity Ministery, Malaysian Islamic Dakwah Foundation (YADIM) and the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (JAKIM) for the sake of the religious harmony in this nation.

The offensive post by Zirwah that was posted two days ago featured a building with domes and a face to depict a temple . The story is set as a dialogue between a child and a mother.

In the story the adult character claims that one should not refer to temple as a place for the god of infidels. It further claims people are infidels for not praying to Allah and are praying to statues that are man made.

The MHS central council pointed out that the post only served to spread hate and racism.

“Any educational material must delivered by taking into account the sensitivities of the beliefs and practices of other faiths. The interpretation given is wrong and negative towards the beliefs of Hindus.

“MHS found the poster used in the post contained statements that insulted and degraded the beliefs of Hinduism, especially those related to the practice of praying that is focused on idols.

“We would like to stress that comparative faith cannot be done based on uneven interpretation or without understanding other faiths. Religious education should inculcate humanity and respect instead of spreading hate and racism.”
