Nik Nazmi bows out of KLFA top post due to Cabinet rule

Natural Resources and Environment Sustainability Minister Nik Nazmi has decided to withdraw from contesting for the Kuala Lumpur Football Association president position following Cabinet’s decision that bars its members from holding positions in sports association.

“The Cabinet today decided that members of the administration are not allowed to contest for positions in the sports association.

“Hence I accept this decision and withdraw from contesting for the position of KLFA president,” he said via X today.

Prior to this Nik Nazmi and Communications Minister announced that they are vying for the KLFA top post.

On that note Nik Nazmi said he is committed in supporting KLFA by by developing a healthy ecosystem for football.

He also added that he would continue helming Setiawangsa Rangers that he founded in 2018.

Setiawangsa Rangers is one of the associate clubs of KLFA.

With this announcement, there would be new faces vying for the KLFA top post.
