Malaysia to host SEA Games 2027
The Youth and Sports Ministry announced that the government has agreed to accept the offer from SEA Games Federation to host the SEA Games in the year 2027.
“The decision was agreed by the Cabinet after taking into account a commitment to co-host by three states with Kuala Lumpur,” said the ministry via a statement yesterday.
“Prior to this, Sarawak, Sabah and Penang stated their willingness to use their respective allocations to co-host with Kuala Lumpur.”
The 2027 SEA Games will be Malaysia’s seventh time as host. It previously hosted the 1965, 1971, 1977, 1989, 2001 and 2017 editions.
The biennial regional games will be hosted by Indonesia this year.
