MCA can still contribute for BN, Wee mum on PH
MCA president Datuk Seri Ir Wee Ka Siong pointed out it will do its best for the people and BN in elections.
He said MCA will do what is best for the people and that party members must act with noble intentions.
“As long as this party remains strong, and is dignified, it will do what is necessary,” New Straits Times quoted him as saying at the MCA annual convention in Penang yesterday.
Questions over the efficiency of MCA and its ally MIC was raised recently when a IIUM analyst opined that both the BN components were no longer relevant.
For the record, MCA has two MPs – Wee Ka Siong (Ayer Hitam) and Wee Jeck Seng (Tanjung Piai). MIC has M Saravanan (Tapah).
“I will not stop until the people’s problems are resolved. That’s it. We have gone through our time as the opposition and part of the government, even without a position. I have experienced it all.
“I have been a backbencher, a deputy minister, a minister, and now, even as an opposition, it is okay.
“I will carry out my duties and responsibilities, even if at times I get insulted,” he said.
He however declined to comment on cooperating with PH.
MCA has had bad blood with PH – particularly with the DAP long before the current unity government was formed.
