Straight fights in GE will ensure Anwar remains in power
Johor DAP chairman Liew Chin Tong has called for straight fights in the upcoming general elections as a strategy to ensure the current federal government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim remains in power.
“Everyone has accepted that the current government would remain until the end of the term. The question now is can we win again in GE16.
“It is important to create a one to one fight. The Mahkota by-election showed that,” he said in reference to the by-election that saw the BN – PH partnership trounce PN for a majority of over 20,000 majority.
“It provides stability that the government would remain.
“The actual test is the GE16. We need to decide we can build a new political order and convince everyone that we are nation builders.”
He said this when delivering his speech at the Johor DAP convention today.
Liew also re-confirmed that he is not vying for the Johor DAP chairman position after holding the post for 10 years.
“As announced, I will contest for a post in the committee but I would nominate Teo Nie Ching as Johor DAP chairman.
“I believe Nie Ching can lead Johor DAP into a better era.”
