Engineering graduates prefer Singapore over Malaysia?
The government will be focusing on the issue of engineering graduates’ preference to work in Singapore as it is contributing to the shortage of skilled workers in Malaysia, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
The issue will be raised with the Human Resources Ministry since it is also affecting other parts of Malaysia.
“The issue is not just limited to Kulim High Tech Park (KHTP) but also in the special economic zone in Johor. The minimum salary offered there is S$1,500, which is equivalent to RM5,225.
“We will discuss this issue with the Human Resources Ministry,” he told reporters after attending a dialogue session titled “Talents Talk” with industry players and training institutions.
Ahmad Zahid spoke on this issue during a dialogue session with industry players that was held as part of his working visit to KHTP.
