PHEB gives out education aid amid ongoing disputes

Penang Hindu Endowments Board has been giving out educational aid despite the ongoing disputes involving its former and current commissioners.

On Oct 13 the PHEB dished out RM45,900 to a total of 50 Hindu students.

Last month, RM68,000 were given to 85 students.

In addition to that RM17,000 was given out in this two months to seven families.

“The PHEB is committed to strengthen the Hindu community through initiatives like the above as meaningful education incentives and to build a culture of academic excellence,” the board said in a statement.

Disputes involving former and present commissioners are ongoing with one questioning the role of the MIC prior to 2008.

Urimai’s M Satees dared MIC state chief Datuk J Dhinagaran to a debate via Vanakkam Malaysia.

The MIC head however wants the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission to probe Satees on the latter’s time at the PHEB.

Satees was a commissioner during the tenure of former Deputy Chief Minister P Ramasamy.

Ramasamy meanwhile disputes current PHEB chairman RSN Rayer’s position since the latter has no standing in the state administration and PHEB is body under the state administration.
