PKR’s defeat in Sungai Bakap linked to the construction of Tamil school

The construction of SJKT Sungai Bakap was one of the reasons for PKR to lose the Sungai Bakap by-election, revealed RSN Rayer PH-Jelutong while debating the Auditor General’s report.

There are a few issues close to the Indians. I would like to touch on the abandoned school project of SJKT Sungai Bakap for the past 15 years.

“It is classified as cancelled under the attention as in the Auditor’s Report page 57.

“Since PMX took over we have contested several by-elections. In Nenggiri, BN won. In Mahkota, BN won. In Kuala Kubu Baru, DAP won. In Pulai AMANAH won, in Simpang Jeram AMANAH won.

“In Sungai Bakap PKR lost. One of the factors that led to our defeat is the construction of SJKT Sungai Bakap.

“For your context, the percentage of Indians who voted was not that much because there were some quarters who played up the issue of our failure to in constructing the school during the campaign period.

“I urge upon the Education Ministry to complete the school because I heard Deputy Prime Minister I who is Bagan Datuk MP gave his commitment,” he said in reference Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

“I welcome his commitment and I hope the construction of this school would be completed as soon as possible.”

The vocal MP also questioned the status of RM3.5 million that was allocated for the school during the administration of Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

For the record, PN’s Abidin Ismail defeated Dr Joohari Arifin of PKR-PH with a majority of 4,267 votes.
