Lim: Raise the budget for non-Muslim places of worship, Indian community

Lim Guan Eng (PH-Bagan) has called for an increment in the budget allocation for non-Muslim places of worship and the Indian community.

“I urge the Finance Ministry to raise the allocation for non Muslim places of worship from RM50 million to RM100 million. I think the opposition would agree to this too.

“See, Indera Mahkota has nodded his head,” said Lim who is also DAP national chairman while debating on Budget 2025 allocations that was tabled on Friday.

The call was made since non-Muslim places of worship received RM100 million in 2023.

He also raised the concerns of the Indian community who were allocated RM130 million via MITRA, Tekun Nasional and Amanah Ikhtiar.

“I would also like to raise the concerns of the Indian community over the allocation of RM130 million. They have requested it to be raised to RM200 million.”

The amount which is the same as last year has led to many quarters raising questions on the matter.
