US presidency: Lesser known candidates vying for the top post

While it is known that Republican Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris of the Democrats are vying for the US presidency, there are lesser known candidates also vying for the top position.

The Libertarian Party is fielding 39-year-old Chase Oliver.

Oliver ran for Senate in Georgia two years ago garnered two percent of the vote.

The Libertarians believe in limited government and individual freedom. They have blamed Trump for rushing through Covid-19 vaccination.

Green Party’s Jill Stein

Green Party is fielding Jill Stein, 74, a physician, again. She previously ran in 2016.

She has growing support among Arab Americans and Muslims in states like Michigan, Arizona and Wisconsin.

Independent candidate Cornel West

The final lesser known candidate is an Independent, Cornel West, 71.

A progressive political activist and philosopher, West was initially a Green Party candidate.
