PKR to consult legal team over COA judgment in Zuraida’s case

Consultation with the legal team would be the order of the day following the Court of Appeal’s decision to reduce the payment imposed on former PKR vice president Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin for breaching party bonds terms, said former PKR secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

“The main difference from the High Court’s decision is the quantum (amount payable). However, in terms of the facts and the breach of bond terms, those remain established.

“The conviction was upheld by the Court of Appeal, meaning PKR’s decision to impose a financial commitment suit was justified.

“We still have one more platform, which is the Federal Court (for an appeal),” he said to reporters after the Home Ministry’s monthly assembly here today.

Yesterday the Court of Appeal reduced the payment from RM10 million to RM100,000.

The bond was imposed on Zuraida as she quit along with 11 other PKR MPs leading to the fall of the previous government.
