Keep your political gathering out of Batu Caves temple, MIC

Facebook users panned MIC’s plan to hold a special prayer for former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak tomorrow.

“Using temple for political related matters? I’m aware of DS Najib contribution towards the community but what he did at the same time is against the law.

“He got his punishment from our judicial system. Respect that as a politician,” said Facebook user Ravana X Bachelor.

He was referring to the direct contribution of the Najib administration for the Indian community.

Najib also frequently visited Batu Caves in conjunction with Thaipusam during his time as prime minister.

“Leave temples and places of worship out of politics. Don’t humiliate all religions,” said another user, Michelle Chan.

“Don’t you have anything better to do? Why are you insulting us and our religion?” questioned Bahma Sivasubramaniam.

“Great, screw everyone that wanted to pray on Monday morning right?” Miel Et Abeille complained.

Yesterday MIC deputy president Datuk Seri M Saravanan announced that the special prayer would be held at the Batu Caves Murugan temple.

“Instead of gathering at the Palace of Justice in Putrajaya, MIC will hold special prayers for Dato Sri Najib Razak at the Batu Caves Murugan Temple at 11:00 am, on the 6th of January 2025.

“MIC also warmly welcomes the Indian community at large to join us for these prayers, to collectively pray and wish for Dato’ Sri Najib Razak to obtain justice on the addendum.”

The decision was made after Umno backed off from organising a solidarity rally for Najib in front of Palace of Justice.

The Appeals Court would also have a hearing regarding the alleged royal addendum by the former Agong that called for Najib to spend the rest of his jail term under house arrest.
