Satees wasn’t even at the 11th GOTO, counters PHEB chief

Opposition activist Satees Muniandy had made unfounded allegations against Penang Hindu Endowments Board chairman RSN Rayer’s address at the 11th Annual Global Organisation of Tamil Origin (GOTO) that was held over the weekend without even attending it.

This was confirmed by Rayer to Harapan Daily this morning.

“Satees was not even present at the conference.

Satees had posted on his social media account that a foreign government would be sending a protest note against a state government for its leader’s conduct.

“Congrats Penang Govt & DAP Leadership for having leaders who lacks political understanding, basic courtesy and sensitivity, wrote the Urimai activist.

Rayer spoke about the role of PHEB and Hindus in Malaysia pointed out that the conference was supposed to have gathered scholars on Tamil language and community had also invited a Dravida Munetra Kazhagam (DMK) politician, Thirumavalavan.

“As far as Malaysia is concerned, there is no place for atheism here because the first principle of the Rukunegara is Believe in God,” he said.

Several attendees of the conference also told Harapan Daily that Thirumvalavan had propagated atheism and insulted the sensitivities of the Hindu community.

Rayer also said that his support for Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai to be the next chief minister stemmed from the fact that the latter stood up for the rights of a rape victim.

“I supported Annamalai of the BJP to be chief minister in my personal capacity in view of the rape case of a female student in Annamalai University who was raped by a DMK activist.

Responding to Satees’ allegation, one attendee said: “The BJP led Indian government should be inviting Rayer to India, instead of what was alleged.”

The case was hushed up due to the perpetrator’s political affiliation and the victim’s information was leaked out.

DMK is the party that rules the state of Tamil Nadu in India.

Annamalai whipped himself six times in protest against the DMK on Dec 27.

For the record, a protest note is normally a note issued by one nation to another nation.
