Committal proceedings filed against Papagomo
Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain has filed committal proceedings against Wan Azri Wan Deris, better known as Papagomo as the latter has contradicted a High Court injunction.
“Papagomo has continued to defame the IGP,” said Razarudin’s lawyer S Raam Kumar, the media reported.
The interlocutory injunction was issued by judicial commissioner Gan Techiong to Papagomo with an order to remove several allegedly defamatory posting about Razarudin.
“The ex-parte leave application to cite Wan Azri has been fixed before Gan on Feb 10,” Raam Kumar said.
This means Papagomo can be detained if the IGP receives a judgement in his favour.
Razarudin initially filed a defamation suit on Dec 26 against Papagomo over the latter’s claim that Razarudin is a lackey of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
He is seeking general, special, aggravated and exemplary damages and an injunction to prevent Wan Azri from making or republishing such statements, either by himself or through persons associated with him.
Razarudin also wants Wan Azri to apologise and withdraw his allegedly defamatory statements from all social media accounts as well as in the mass and online media, wherever they have been published.
