Why no Indian as CM in Kedah, Kelantan or Terengganu? DAP claps back at MIPP
DAP clapped back on the Malaysian Indian People’s Party (MIPP) that recently demanded for an Indian Chief Minister.
“PN governs Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu, yet not a single Indian or non-Malay has been appointed as Chief Minister.
“If MIPP genuinely believes in Indian leadership, why hasn’t it fought for Indian representation in these states? Does MIPP believe there isn’t a single qualified Indian leader within PN?
“If so, that’s a failure within their own ranks, not DAP’s,” said three DAP representatives – Senator A Lingeshwaran, Kota Kemuning state assemblyman S Preakas and Bagan Dalam assemblyman K Kumaran.
They said this in response to MIPP information chief Suthan Mookaiah who questioned why an Indian has never been appointed as the chief minister in Penang.
They pointed out that the DAP does not practice race-based tokenism.
The Democratic Action Party (DAP) has always championed leadership based on capability, integrity, and the ability to serve—not race-based tokenism.
The trio also pointed out that the DAP is the first to create a Deputy Chief Minister post for the Indians.
“It is ironic that MIPP expects DAP to prove inclusivity when DAP was the first to create a Deputy Chief Minister position for the Indian community in Penang.
They also questioned MIPP’s silence on the matter within the opposition coalition’s administration.
“Meanwhile, MIPP remains silent while PN continuously sidelines Indian leaders.
“If MIPP truly cares about equal representation, perhaps they should start by demanding an Indian Chief Minister in Kedah, Kelantan, or Terengganu before pointing fingers at DAP.
They added that leadership needs to be earned through trust and competency, instead of the political hypocrisy that MIPP continues to display.
