Penang DAP seeks funds to offer course for Pas

Penang DAP is willing to organise courses on Chinese family names for Pas and it is seeking funds and assistance to do that.

“Penang DAP is prepared to secure funds and support from cultural figures to organise these courses, given the frequent inaccurate statements made about non-Malay communities,” Penang DAP organising secretary Phee Boon Chee said, FMT reported.

“If PAS truly understands the customs and culture of non-Malay communities, it would not issue statements that offend other ethnic groups, particularly the Chinese community.”

The decision to offer such courses was a suggestion from academic Tajuddin Rasdi.

Pas information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari, however shot down the suggestion as it implied Pas’ ignorance on the customs and culture of the non-Muslim communities in Malaysia.

Phee said that it was necessary for Pas to undergo the course as Perak Pas chief Razman Zakaria linked Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh to the Yeoh family in YTL Corporation.

Kepala Batas MP Siti Mastura Muhammad lost a defamation case after claiming that DAP leaders Lim Guan Eng, Teresa Kok and the veteran Lim Kit Siang are related to the late Communist Party of Malaya secretary general, Chin Peng.

Chin Peng’s real name is Ong Boon Hua.
