Palestine gives a resounding no to Trump’s Gaza takeover plan
Palestine ambassador to United Nations Riyad Mansour did not mince his words in rejecting US president Donald Trump’s plans to takeover Gaza.
“Egypt gave a clear answer. Jordan gave a clear answer. And the answer rejecting displacing the Palestinian people from the Gaza Strip.
“Also the six ministers from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, United Arab Emirates and Palestine issued a statement not accepting and rejecting any notion of displacement of Palestinians outside Gaza Strip.
“Our country and home is the Gaza Strip. It is part of Palestine.”
He said this in response to Trump’s announcement to move Palestinians out of Gaza Strip while the US rebuilds Gaza into a “Riviera of the Middle East”.
White House has confirmed that Trump was not committed to deploying US soldiers or financing the reconstruction plans.
Russia too have rejected Trump’s vision for Gaza. Russia’s ambassador to the UN too echoed Palestine’s sentiments.
“This is out of the question. The Palestinians and world community don’t want it. You cannot forcefully resettle someone somewhere.
“The Palestinians have suffered so much injustice in their existence that this one on top of all of the others would be a real shame.”
