RM250,000 allocated for 200 non-Muslim places of worship this year
The Housing and Local Government Ministry is aiming to provide a maximum allocation of RM250,000 for upto 200 non-Muslim places of worship, said the ministry in a Dewan Rakyat written reply to V Ganabatirao (PH-Klang).
Non-Muslim places of worship is better known as its Malay acronym, RIBI.
“The Madani government through Budget 2025 has allocated RM50 million to continue the RIBI Initiative. The ministry is aiming for 200 RIBI to receive an allocation amounting to a maximum of RM250,000 for each RIBI.
“The targeted number would be increased if the amount applied by RIBI is not more than the maximum limit,” the ministry said.
In 2023 the ministry allocated RM24.7 million for the maintenance of 205 RIBI. Whereas for last year, 430 applications received a total of RM48.9 million.
