China’s fourth largest automobile manufacturing company, Chery Holding Group Co Ltd is investing RM2.2 billion at Beringin High-Tech Auto Valley (Beringin HTA Valley) over a five year period to establish the Chery Smart Auto Industrial Park.
In its first phase, a 323.75 hectare ecosystem would be developed to bring world class automotive manufacturing and advanced technology in Hulu Selangor.
The Chery Smart Auto Industrial Park would be spanning 80.9 hectares.
The park, set for completion next year, will have an initial production capacity of 100,000 vehicles annually, with potential expansion to 300,000 vehicles per year, said Chery International president Zhang Guibing.
“Chery is proud to be part of the development of this vision, where we will establish a world-class manufacturing facility, integrating the latest smart technologies and producing a variety of vehicles, from internal combustion engine (ICE) models to the latest plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV), battery electric vehicles (BEV), and energy-efficient vehicles (EEV).
“We are confident that once completed, this facility will create high-value job opportunities, house an advanced research and development (R&D) centre, expand vehicle exports to neighboring countries, strengthen Selangor’s role through a robust supply chain, and further solidify Malaysia’s position as a leading automotive hub in Asean.
“The Chery Smart Auto Industrial Park is expected to generate between 1,500 and 3,000 new job opportunities in its first phase in Malaysia,” he said at the signing ceremony and groundbreaking event for the Chery Smart Auto Industrial Park.
The agreement signing ceremony involved Legenda Beringin Holding Sdn Bhd (Legenda Beringin) and Chery Corporate Malaysia Sdn Bhd (Chery Malaysia).
