Ayer Kuning by-election may end up a three cornered tussle
The Ayer Kuning by-election may end up a three cornered tussle as PSM is considering to contest the seat.
The state leadership is discussing it. They have not made a decision yet,” said PSM deputy chairman S Arutchelvan.
The seat fell vacant following the death of its state assemblyman Ishsam Shahruddin of BN on Feb 22.
Ishsam won the seat in 2022 with a 2213 majority in a five cornered fight that included PSM.
PSM’s candidate came fourth and lost her deposit.
Political pundits are confirming that the seat would remain with BN.
The only question now is whether BN would be able to raise its majority by gaining the votes of Pakatan Harapan.
AMANAH had fielded a Chinese candidate in Ayer Kuning during the general election in 2018.
The party however would not be fielding its candidate in the spirit of unity government.
