ERA FM controversy: Fahmi calls for MCMC probe on ERA FM

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil has called for a probe to be conducted by the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission on ERA FM.

This would include calling up Astro and ERA FM’s management for an explanation.

“This is to ensure action can be taken based on existing laws,” he said.

This was over an offensive TikTok video that featured ERA FM hosts dancing insultingly to the chants of ‘vel vel’ that is synonymous to Thaipusam celebration.

In a related development ERA FM hosts Nabil Ahmad, Azad Jasmin, and Radin Amir Affendy issued an apology.

They vowed to do better and were open to criticism and feedback on how they could improve.

“Once again, we apologise for our mistake which we did unintentionally,” Azad said.

Earlier today, backbenchers RSN Rayer (PH-Jelutong) and Datuk Seri M Saravanan (BN-Tapah) called for action to be taken against ERA FM.

Rayer wanted the hosts to be put on garden leave until a probe is completed.
