DAP CEC polls: Lim Guan Eng makes the cut, Gobind Singh comes out top

Lim Guan Eng made the cut into the top 30 to remain in the DAP central executive committee (CEC) with 1,719 votes.

He clinched the 26th spot.

Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow who was said to be leading the team against Lim polled 2101 votes for the 19th spot

Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo who was previously voted out of Selangor DAP is the biggest winner with 2785 at the top spot.

This was followed by Sarawak DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen with 2,631 votes.

The third spot went to Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching took the third spot with 2,585 votes.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Gook clinched the fifth spot with 2,508 votes, just one spot below Selangor exco Ng Suee Lim who obtained 2,563 votes.

Among the Malay candidates, Bangi MP Syahredzan Johan and Bentong MP Young Syefura Othman retained their positions in the CEC at the 20th and 21st spot.

Syahredzan obtained 2,065 votes whereas Syefura obtained 1,943 votes.

Gobind’s brother Ramkarpal Singh who was the topper in Penang DAP polls got the 23rd spot with 1,917 votes.

Former Batu Kawan MP Kasturiraani Patto obtained 1,722 votes for the 25th spot.

Another notable Indian representative who made it into the CEC is Arul Kumar Jambunathan.

Arul who is from Negri Sembilan and an aide to Loke took the 24th spot with 1,747 votes.

Nine out of 30 are female representatives in the CEC.

A total of 3,342 delegates determined the winners. This is equivalent to 79.51 percent delegates voting in the polls.

There were 296 spoilt votes and one, unreturned.
