DAP: Limit PM’s tenure to 10 years

DAP reminded the government to limit the Prime Minister’s tenure to 10 years.

Party secretary-general Anthony Loke raised this matter in his speech at the DAP’s national congress as it was part of Pakatan Harapan’s manifesto in the last general election.

“We are not asking Anwar to step down, but this amendment will be his legacy in bringing reforms to our administration.

“We also want to stress that DAP is committed to supporting Anwar as Prime Minister after the 16th General Election, even there is any new political configuration.

“We will continue to uphold our stance that the representative of PH for the Prime Minister position will be Anwar, with no second candidate besides him,” Loke said in his policy speech at the congress.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim who was present at the event meanwhile responded to Loke’s call in his speech.

He pointed out that while he stands firm on the need for reforms, the power to make the necessary changes was not absolutely his.

He added there is a need for consensus to make it a reality.

In addition to that there are many who are frustrated as reforms are taking place at a slower pace.
