Malaysia needs to hasten technology application, exploration

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim underscored the importance for Malaysia to hasten technology exploration and application by encouraging innovation along with wholesome collaborations across ministries and agencies.

“There are still certain fields where Malaysia has potentials to pioneer especially in Islamic digital asset and halal industries. However the decision must be made and executed quickly.

“There is a need to emphasize on cyber threat and confidence building among industries and institutions.

“Hence an active collaboration involving the Digital Ministry, MITI, Finance Ministry, MOSTI, Bank Negara and Securities Commission via a special platform is needed to systematically coordinate so that it drives the economy.

“Only then can the nation remain competitive and effective,” Anwar said after chairing the Artificial Intelligence Technology Strategy meeting yesterday.

Anwar also revealed the meeting also discussed US trade policies since the government needed to understand the current scenario and evaluate the implications on local exporters and industries.
