‘DAP shall decide my tenure in PHEB’

Penang Hindu Endowment Board chairman RSN Rayer has reiterated that he would let the DAP determine his tenure in the PHEB.

“I leave it entirely to the party leadership . Let the party decide if they want me to continue come July. Thank you,” said Rayer who is also Jelutong MP.

He said this in response to media reports that quoted former PHEB chairman P Ramasamy urging the Penang government to be cautious if it plans to revamp the current PHEB leadership.

Ramasamy said that the Penang DAP chairman is “seriously considering the removal of both the chairman and his deputy”.

PHEB is currently headed by RSN Rayer who failed to secure a spot in the 30-member CEC but remains a committee member in Penang DAP.

The vice chairman of PHEB is Senator Dr A Lingeshwaran who did not contest for a position in both the national party polls and the state polls.

The following is what Ramasamy had said in a statement:

“It would be wise for DAP Penang to engage in thorough headhunting before finalising an appointment.

“The state government must exercise great caution in selecting the next leaders of the PHEB.

“The decision should not be based on political alignments or internal party conflicts but rather on competence, vision, and the ability to expand and strengthen the PHEB’s role – both in Penang and potentially across Malaysia.

“A well-thought-out appointment today will shape the future of Hindu religious and community governance in the country.

“It is imperative that DAP Penang makes the right choice for the sake of the Hindu community and its institutions.”
