Trump’s Economic Extortion: A Global Call to Action
By Sukhdave Singh
The U.S., once a champion of global governance, has turned rogue, wielding economic power for extortion. This must be met with united resistance.
Trump’s withdrawal from the TPP, a U.S.-led fair-trade initiative, exposes his true agenda: not fair trade, but unilateral dominance.
His fixation on trade deficits in goods, ignoring service surpluses, reveals either economic incompetence or calculated manipulation.
The world faces a stark choice: submit to Trump’s imperial demands or stand united. Diplomacy should be the first line of defence, but if it fails, decisive, coordinated retaliation is imperative.
Targeting U.S. strengths, such as military exports, financial services, and technology, will demonstrate global resolve in fighting against this economic extortion. Central banks must also diversify away from the dollar.
We cannot yield to a narcissistic dictator’s unreasonable demands.
This is not just about trade; it’s about preserving global economic order and preventing a dangerous precedent for global governance. The world must confront this economic extortion and expose the emperor’s naked ambition.
