Non-Muslims, don’t vote for Moon Party, says an analyst
A political analyst has urged the non-Muslims against voting for Pas which he referred to as Moon Party.
“Here’s the real issue: if you’re an elected YB representing a diverse constituency, including non-Muslims, and you refuse to meet them in their places of worship (which isn’t about religion, just connecting with voters), especially in a place like Malaysia where religion is tied to identity, then I’d argue non-Muslims should steer clear of voting for the Moon People,” said Professor James Chin of Tasmania University, Australia via a Facebook post.
Moon refers to Pas’ logo.
“Why? Because they don’t acknowledge my faith or my right to follow a different path.
“Actually, scratch that—I forgot: the Moon party has long insisted there’s only one true religion, leaving the others as followers of FxxE religions(fill in the blank).
“Do you really want leaders like this running the country? People who can’t reason clearly, who chase your vote but won’t truly represent you if you’re not Muslim? I don’t.”
He said this in response to Pas ulama wing committee member Mokhtar Senik’s criticism against the wing’s secretary Nushi Mahfodz who is also Semenyih state assemblyman.
Nushi’s recent visit to a Hindu temple in the constituency drew Mokhtar’s ire.
Nushi was however backed by Bangi MP Syahredzan Johan of the DAP who said that visiting different places of worship was within the jobscope of an elected representative.
