No changes have been made on visa requirements, immigration policies for Malaysians to U.S.
There have been no changes to visa requirements and immigration policies for Malaysians travelling to or residing in the U.S., Wisma Putra confirmed, amidst of reports coming in regarding visa cancellations and deportations by the Donald Trump administration.
The Foreign Affairs Ministry said these developments were not specifically targeted at Malaysians.
“Nevertheless, Malaysians who are currently in the US or planning to travel there are advised to stay updated on the latest entry, visa and immigration policies issued by the US authorities,” it said in a statement.
Wisma Putra also urged Malaysians in the US to comply with the local laws, immigration regulations and conditions of their respective visas, which are being enforced strictly at present.
“Should they have any queries or require consular support, they are encouraged to contact the nearest Malaysian diplomatic mission.
“The ministry continues to monitor the situation closely and will provide updates should there be any changes affecting Malaysian citizens,” it added.
The ministry encouraged all travellers to consult official sources for verified information and to exercise due diligence when planning their travel or stay abroad.
Several reported cases illustrate the recent wave of US visa cancellations and deportations primarily targeting international students under the Trump administration’s second term.
