Tariff: A dozen states also sue Trump after California
A dozen more states have followed the steps of California to sue the Trump administration in a bid to stop the reciprocal tariff policy.
The 12 listed as plaintiffs in the lawsuit are Oregon, Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Maine, Minnesota, Nevada, New Mexico, New York and Vermont.
They argued that the tariff policy by President Donald Trump has been subject to the president’s “whims rather than the sound exercise of lawful authority”.
The suit also challenged Trump’s claim that he could arbitrarily imposed tariffs based on the International Emergency Economic Powers Act.
The dozen states wants the US Court of International Trade to declare the tariffs to be illegal and block government agencies and officers from enforcing them.
