Would MIC remain in BN?

MIC president Tan Sri SA Vigneswaran has opted to keep his lips sealed when asked whether his party is considering to leave the BN coalition.

“No comment,” he told Harapan Daily when contacted today.

The question was raised since MCA, which is also a coalition partner, are keen to chart its own path, away from BN.

On April 27 MCA secretary-general Chong Sin Woon called on his party to take charge of its own future as BN continues to delay making clear decisions on its directions.

Chong made the call while opening the Selayang MCA division’s 2025 AGM.

Chong proposed that MCA nationwide discuss the party’s future at the divisional meetings scheduled to take place in June.

He also claimed that MCA have been sidelined despite being a core member of the coalition.

“We have made every possible effort to convey our views to BN, including issuing numerous statements and raising many ideas and questions at the BN supreme council and secretary-general meetings,” he said.

He also pointed out that his party was sidelined in the state polls that was held in 2023.

Both MCA and MIC opted to stay out of the state polls after seat negotiations failed.
