Kluang MP: Don’t aim fire extinguishers at neighbours, Wong Chen

Kluang MP Wong Shu Qi of the DAP reminded her PKR counterpart Wong Chen against aiming fire extinguishers at neighbours like the DAP.

“The heat always rises when elections are near—even if it’s just an internal one. But let’s be clear: when the kitchen gets hot, don’t aim the fire extinguisher at your neighbours.

“It caught my attention when the Member of Parliament for Subang, Wong Chen, mentioned DAP alongside his own party in a recent forum.

“He said both parties have changed from the early days, with money politics creeping in and events now being held at hotels, among other things.

Subang MP Wong Chen who is gunning for a seat in PKR central leadership council recently claimed that there is money politics in DAP’s and PKR’s polls.

He pointed out that the PKR and DAP events have become “hotel events.”

“Well, just for the record, our DAP National Congress was held on March 16 this year at IDCC Shah Alam—not exactly the Ritz. Unless there’s a new five-star rating for convention centres I’m unaware of, I’m not sure where the “hotel event” claim came from.

She reminded Wong Chen that DAP law makers still contribute 15% of their monthly allowance to the party.

“Also, unlike the times that may be changing, some things remain the same in DAP: our elected reps still contribute 15% of their monthly allowance to the party. That’s how we keep the lights on at HQ—just old-school commitment.

“Elections are intense, we get it. But as friends in the same coalition, we’d prefer not to be caught in friendly fire when we’re just minding our own business.”
