Suttaa Thale Enakku – action packed, dark comedy with important message
Suttaa Thale Enakku that premiered yesterday is a local Malaysian Tamil movie that introduces two important themes to the Malaysian public.
An enjoyable action – dark comedy it introduces the notion of de-extinction, also known as resurrection biology or species revivalism.
The second theme which is related to the first, the dire need for wildlife preservation.
As noted by National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas) chairman Datuk Kamil Othman who was present there, the movie makers used Quentin Tarantino’s style of labelling in the movie.
In terms of songs and its blend into the movie, it is up-to-date with the current trend of using popular Tamil songs of the past even though this movie has been in the making for three years.
However, unlike Tamil movies that have been slapped with lawsuits for copyright infringement, due credit was given to the Indian music directors such as Deva and Anirudh.

The movie makers also collaborated with India in terms of computer graphics imagery and Singapore for their songs. Its music director is Jagathees.
Its cast is made up of featuring Vignesh Prabhu, a Malaysian Book of Records holder, alongside Malaysian Indian actors, G Kutti, Samraj, Rishikeshan, Kathir, Pavithran, Balan Santhinathan, Mohan, Govin Vel, Gopal Raman, Nirmala, Kuben, and Dinesh.
Its producer, R Latchaprabhu PhD had previously collaborated with Vignesh Prabhu in three Tamil movies.
Overall, Suttaa Thale Enakku is a movie worth the time and money as it presents new ideas which are food for thought.
Attention to detailing for a story set on an fictitious island on Malaysia – Thailand board is also remarkable.
Fans of local Tamil movies can catch this movie in the cinemas from today.
