UPKO leader keeps party plans close to heart… for now
As the Sabah state election looms, a party that needs to be focused on is the United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) which is a component party of Pakatan Harapan.
This party is vital, especially in securing the Kadazan Dusun Murut (KDM) vote bank for PH.
For now, UPKO information chief Peter Jr Naintin has opted to keep his party’s plans close to his heart.
“The discussion on the seats in Pakatan Harapan is still ongoing. We have finalised 75 percent of the seats. I cannot reveal more than that,” said Peter who is also Libaran UPKO chief to Harapan Daily.
In the present state assembly, UPKO has one seat – Kadamaian which it won during the state polls in September 2020.
The party had contested in 12 seats back then, most of which were KDM majority seats.
The Sabah state assembly is due to be dissolved in October this year.
At the federal level, UPKO’s president Ewon Benedick is Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister.
