Elon Musk quits Trump administration
Elon Musk is quitting his position in the Trump administration.
This comes one day after he criticised a bill that Trump called “a big, beautiful bill”.
Musk confirmed his departure via X.
“As my scheduled time as a Special Government Employee comes to an end, I would like to thank President @realDonaldTrump for the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending,” he wrote.
“The @DOGE mission will only strengthen over time as it becomes a way of life throughout the government,” he said in reference to the Department of Government Efficiency which he led.
Trump’s “big, beautiful bill” among others, makes individual income and estate cuts during his first term permanent, phasedout Biden’s clean energy tac credit, temporary boost in deduction, reduced budget for Medicaid, more funding for Trump’s mass deportation operations and Trump’s Golden Dome.
Musk had criticised the bill on the grounds that it hampered the work done by DOGE.
