On Dr M’s uniting Malay agenda
By: Ronnie Liu Tan Khiew
Dr M is playing his old tricks again. He can never learn.
This is the time to talk about national unity.
Not on shallow Malay unity or Chinese unity and Indian unity. For Malaysia is a truly multiracial country.
Dr M is relentlessly pitting the Malays against the Chinese for his selfish political agenda.
Ok, what did he do to unite the Malays when he was the prime minster for 22 years plus 22 months?
Nothing.
Let me give you a summary of what he has done to split and disunite the Malays instead …
He was sacked by Tunku Abdul Rahman for attacking Umno top leaders, causing disunity among the Malays.
He returned to umno after he and datuk Harun and several other young Turks managed to topple Tunku.
When he was the deputy prime minister, he took a leading role in forcing Tun Hussein Onn to step down both as president of Umno and prime minister of Malaysia.
After becoming prime minister, he removed at least three of his deputies and senior Umno leaders from office (namely Tengku Razaleigh, Musa Hitam and Anwar Ibrahim).
Because of him, Umno was deregistered and he formed Umno Baru to save the situation.
PKR was formed thanks to Dr M for sacking Anwar and putting Anwar behind bars.
Dr M resigned from Umno to fight prime minister Tun Abdullah Badawi when Pak Lah did not listen to him.
He pushed DS Najib Razak to replace Pak Lah.
When Najib did not want to accept his proposals, he got upset and decided to kick out Najib.
He left Umno again and went ahead to form a party called Bersatu, splitting Umno again and again.
It’s the same man who helped orchestrated the campaign to bring down Najib.
When he lost his premiership to TS Muhyiddin after the Sheraton Move, he formed a mosquito party called Pejuang to fight with everybody.
He dumped Pejuang after leading the party to nowhere – losing deposits in every single seat the party was contesting.
He can talk and complain about Malay unity now but he’s the biggest culprit who split the Malays, again and again.
Upto 4 Malay political parties (Umno Baru, Bersatu, Pejuang and PKR) formed directly or indirectly thanks to him, splitting Malay unity like no other business.
I don’t think any rightminded Umno members will join him.
So far Umno youth chief Akmal Saleh and Umno vice president Khaled Nordin have rubbished Dr M’s antics.
I cannot think of any other Malay figure who has destroyed Malay unity as much as Dr M.
