Malaysia on the right track to be top 12 most competitive by 2033
Investment Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz views Malaysia’s rise in the World Competitiveness Ranking 2025 as a sign that this nation is on its right track to be among top 12 most competitive nations by 2033.
“I am confident that with strong governance, continuous commitment from both Federal and State Governments, and close cooperation with the private sector, Malaysia is on the right path to achieving this ambitious goal.
“Let’s continue this momentum together!” he said on his LinkedIn page.
“This achievement reaffirms our trajectory towards becoming one of the world’s top 12 most competitive economies by 2033, as targeted under the Madani Economic framework.
In the latest ranking Malaysia rose 11 spots to the 23rd spot among 69 which happens to be Malaysia’s best performance.
Zafrul added that the ranking is also a reflection of Malaysia’s robust economic performance.
“This significant leap is a testament to our robust Economic Performance, with Malaysia ranking 4th globally in this factor, alongside improved Government and Business Efficiency.
“Our International Trade sub-factor also saw a remarkable 11-place increase to 6th, supported by strong export growth and diversified markets.
He also gave his assurance that the government is committed to making holistic structural reforms.
“The Government’s whole-of-government approach under the Madani framework demonstrates our commitment to holistic structural reforms.”
