Freedom of Information bill to be tabled soon

Deputy Minister of Law and Institutional Reform M Kulasegaran confirmed that the Freedom of Information bill will be tabled in Parliament soon.

He pointed out that public access to government information is part of the government’s reforms.

He revealed this while delivering his speech at the International Conference on Governance and Integrity 2025.

The deputy minister however did not specify the exactly when the bill would be tabled

Aside from that, Kulasegaran is also hoping that the proposed amendments to the Whistleblower Protection Act would be passed soon.

He also pointed out that legislations alone would not suffice to ensure integrity and good governance.

“Achieving good governance and upholding integrity requires the active involvement of all sectors of society.

“Beyond laws and policies lies a deeper challenge: nurturing a national mindset that sees integrity not as an obligation but as a shared aspiration and duty,” he said.
