Why Penang MIC supports an exit BN resolution?

Penang MIC has been in the news for supporting a resolution by Kedah MIC that passed a resolution to leave the BN coalition. Why did it do so?

A well placed source in the state chapter told Harapan Daily that Penang MIC endorsed the resolution during its 79th annual general meeting and would leave the decision to the party president and central working committee to determine the party’s future.

“The reason for this endorsement is Umno is not sharing opportunities with us. It wants all positions for themselves. In Penang we are not receiving anything via Umno.

“We have discussed this matter in the division level AGMs and it was unanimously supported by all branch chairmen.

The source also had a reminder for Umno.

“Umno should remember that it is not easy to replace MIC and it will not be easy for them to face GE16 without MIC.

“We are not threatening them but this is the truth.”
