Over 5,000 juvenile cases since 2023 to June 2025

Since the year 2023 until June 2025, a total of 5,633 juvenile cases have been recorded.

In 2023, there were 2,006 cases. The following year, the number of cases shot up to 2,442 cases.

As for the first half of this year, there have been 1,185 cases.

The top three states with the highest number of cases are Johor, Perak and Melaka.

The following are the breakdown in detail:

Johor: 731 cases
Perak: 506 cases
Melaka: 218 cases
Negeri Sembilan: 241 cases
Pulau Pinang: 294 cases
Sabah: 474 cases
Kedah: 433 cases
Selangor: 892 cases
Perlis: 116 cases
Sarawak: 460 cases
Pahang: 331 cases
Terengganu: 275 cases
Kelantan: 347 cases
Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur: 315 cases.

The highest number of juvenile delinquents are those between 16 to 18 years old with 3,637 cases.

The lowest number of cases were recorded by those between the age of 7 to 10 years old with 21 cases only.

To curb the rise of juveniles, the police have been conducting public awareness programs, continuous surveillance in high risk areas that are focus points for teenagers, crime prevention activities and volunteer smartphone patrol.
