Maniishapriet’s murder trial transferred to High Court
The murder trial of University of Cyberjaya student Maniishapriet Kaur Akhara has been transferred from Sepang magistrates’ court to Shah Alam High Court.
M Sri Darvien 19, stands accused of murdering Maniishapriet at condominium unit in Cyberjaya on June 23.
He is charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code that carries the death penalty or life term imprisonment and minimum 12 strokes of the cane upon conviction.
Sri Darvien’s girlfriend D Thineswary is charged with abetting with him in the murder under Section 109 of the Penal Code that is read together with Section 302.
Maniishapriet, 20, was found dead in her condominium unit by a friend at about 10am on June 24. She was staying in the unit with five other students, but her housemates had returned to their hometowns
