UPM denies ‘dog killing operations’ allegations
UPM has denied allegations that it engaged a private company to conduct ‘dog killing operations’ in its campus.
“UPM expresses its regret over this incident, which has gone viral.
“As an institution that upholds the aspirations of planetary health, including the welfare and wellbeing of animals, UPM will not compromise on what has taken place.
“The university also takes seriously every piece of feedback and allegation directed at it regarding the handling of stray animals,” it said in a statement, reported Malaysiakini.
The public university confirmed that an internal investigation committee would be probing the issue.
Earlier today, Pertubuhan Pelindung Khazanah Alam (Peka) president Rajesh Nagarajan who is also a lawyer and Dr Kartini Farah Rahim of Filbert’s Foundation for Furry Friends revealed that UPM had hired PSH Care Services to conduct operations to eliminate dogs.
The elimination were done in December 2024 and January 2025.
They also presented evidence to back their claim.
