Mystery behind Malaysia’s absence in Gaza peace summit revealed

Malaysia’s conditional support for US President Donald Trump’s 20-point peace plan is the reason why Malaysia was excluded from attending the Gaza peace summit held in Egypt yesterday.

“Malaysia was not one of them because we gave conditional support.

“Among the conditions we gave include allowing the return of Palestinians who have been expelled from their country, and several points regarding Palestine’s right to exist as a country.

“These conditions are not part of the 20 points. If you read the 20 points, they do not include the issues of Palestinians’ rights, their country, and the Zionists’ atrocity and its occupation of the West Bank,” he said during Prime Minister’s Question Time.

Anwar revealed this when the matter was raised by Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim (PN-Arau) in his supplementary question.

News reports mentioned the summit held in Sharm el-Sheikh was led by US. Egypt, Qatar and Türkiye played the role of mediating partners.

Indonesia, India, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Cyprus are among the 20 plus nations that attended the summit.
